CHALLENGE DAY

On Thursday night my PT asked me what I had planned for the weekend. I think he is getting used to our big smashup weekend adventures!
I said I wasn't sure - that for once I had nothing planned - maybe a run or something.

Well, apparently that wasn't good enough. He told me to go find one. And report back next week.

Enter my twitter buddy Rell, of Frichot Fitness.
Never one to shy away from creating a challenge she said she was onto it! And would send it through Saturday night so I didn't have time to stress about it.

Enter the challenge.
7.5km run. Then a tabata workout.
Ouch

Saturday night was spent alternating between salt baths, skins, and the foam roller. I was still suffering badly with DOMS from PT, and had no idea how I was going to run.

All my hard work paid off - I felt much better, but still had a lot of glute pain when I started.

It wasn't an awesome run. But it wasn't a bad one either. I needed 7.5km and that's what I did.

Of course I had to wear my Perth crew hat to support the Perth girls in their fun runs this morning!
This is the end of the run. It was HOT by the time I finished. I was kind of glad to stop.

While waiting for my lift home I found a new toy in the playground! Perfect for chin ups. So in between stretching I did sets of jumping chins. What shocked me was I could control the lower down movement way better than I ever have before. Maybe I'm getting stronger?! The cin up goal could be in sight!

Tabata was hard. It was hot. It tested me. Those jump squats straight after the run ? They were cruel.

This is me at the end. SO ready for a shower! Check that sweat!

Rell, thank you so much for an awesome challenge! I can't wait to see what you have planned for week four!

(Gratuitous shot of my dog Misch . We had a lot of walks today. Trying to stretch out those legs! I don't have time for more doms!)

SSS - doing it like a ROCKSTAR!

Today is Super Saturday Session. As Mish said on facebook - she doesn't care how you do it, as long as you do it like a rockstar.

Today I woke and it was cool. Finally. I hate the heat.

Told my husband I was running away from our house - toward the river, and I would call him when I couldn't go any further. I didn't want to run close to home - too much temptation to stop.

So I ran ... and ran ... and even when it hurt a little I ran ... (but suprisingly I felt pretty good!)

And I burned a LOT of calories! In the end it was close to 900 ...

Cause I ran 10 km! Non stop! As in all running no walking!

Remember last year (actually November last year) I was pretty much a NON RUNNER

And today I ran TEN KM!!! I am a RUNNER!

1hr 15min. Those last 5 min seemed to take forever!

Beetroot face to prove it!

Afterwards I walked to a coffee shop and had a quiet skinny chino while I waited for my family. I think I deserved it.

And yes - I did it like a ROCKSTAR! Integrity and commitment! My words for the week!

Too busy not to train

I had no intention to run today. I mean I had a late night last. I was tired. I did two hours of zumba yesterday. I had a full of errands and a two hour round trip to do. I was too busy.

But then as I ate breakfast and read the www.12wbt.com forums I felt just a little sad, cause today is Saturday, and on Saturday we have a super Saturday session to kick the calories away.

And then I remembered how great it felt to train. And how great I felt after zumba last night. And that I had time today to run at the river. And that for once it was a coolish summer morning.

And I decided that since I would get such a buzz from training, instead of feeling flat and tired ... I was too busy not to train.

So i ran. And ran. By the end I was sweaty and hot.

And I totally blew my mind with my achievements. I didn't stop at 3k. Or 4k. I started to believe i might even get to 6km. How cool would that be??

Check it out ....

I Ran 7.1k. I have never even DREAMT of running that far. Somedays even I don't know what I am capable of. Love that about the program. It shows me I am stronger and more determined than I would ever believe.
